Vicente Amigo is the kind of flamenco guitarist who makes other guitarists stop and listen. Born in Guadalcanal near Seville and raised in Córdoba, he spent a decade sharpening his skills alongside Manolo Sanlúcar before stepping out on his own. His 1991 debut De Mi Corazón al Aire announced a serious solo voice, and the records kept getting stronger. Ciudad de las Ideas took the Latin Grammy for Best Flamenco Album in 2001, cementing his place in the front row of his generation. His reach goes well beyond pure flamenco. He has shared sessions and stages with Sting, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, Stanley Jordan and Alejandro Sanz, among many others, and his guitar has turned up on records by Camarón de la Isla and Josh Groban alike. Most recently he released Andenes del Tiempo in 2024, showing no sign of slowing down.
