About
Vincent Peirani treats the accordion like few others dare to, pulling it into territory that is equally at home in lush orchestral textures and nervy, free flowing improvisation. The Nice born French musician has built a reputation as one of the most versatile voices in contemporary jazz, collaborating across the years with Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis, Youn Sun Nah and cellist François Salque, among many others. His duo work with saxophonist Émile Parisien on Belle Époque and the album Living Being show a restless creativity that refuses to stay in one lane. His partnership with pianist Michael Wollny produced Tandem in 2016, a record that critics praised for its almost telepathic symbiosis between the two players. That same year he was named a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters, and he had already picked up Echo Jazz prizes both as a solo instrumentalist and for his duo recordings. The quintet Living Being, which brought in trumpeter Mathias Eick and vocalist Leïla Martial, extended his range even further into layered, song oriented jazz.
