About
Voicst are an Amsterdam indie rock band who describe their own sound as ADHD rock, a name that gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect. The band name itself comes from South African street slang for "manic energy". Their debut album 11 11, recorded in New York with Girls Against Boys bassist Eli Janney, earned the band a 3voor12 Award for best album of 2005, and the track Whatever You Want from Life ended up in a Heineken ad, a Google Earth campaign, and on the soundtrack of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The follow up, A Tale of Two Devils, was produced by Peter Katis, known for his work with Interpol, and featured a brass section plus a guest appearance from Pieter Perquin of Pete Philly & Perquisite. The band also toured as support for acts like The Bravery, Juliette and the Licks, and The Presidents of the United States of America, and played Pinkpop and Lowlands along the way.
