About
Von Wegen Lisbeth are a Berlin indie pop outfit with a sound that refuses to sit still. Their singer Matthias Rohde writes lyrics rooted in everyday moments and overheard conversations, turning mundane life into something genuinely affecting. What sets them apart sonically is their willingness to reach for unexpected instruments: a children's glockenspiel, a steel drum, and a Casio keyboard they partly sourced from an opera house. It gives their music a playful, off kilter texture that is hard to pin down. The band released their debut album Grande in 2016 after years of touring alongside AnnenMayKantereit and Element of Crime, building a devoted following on the German live circuit. Their 2019 follow up sweetlilly93@hotmail.com showed a group that had grown into their own lane, and that same year they took their Britz California headline tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They sing entirely in German, and it works entirely in their favour.
