About
Most people know Jack Stratton as the founder and bandleader of funk outfit Vulfpeck, but his Vulfmon solo project is its own thing entirely. He originally cooked up the Vulfmon persona as a fictional old school German record producer to help push a Kickstarter for Vulfpeck's first vinyl record, and it stuck. Since 2022 he has put out four albums under that name, starting with Here We Go Jack and followed by Vulfnik, Dot, and Deg, filing them under pop and R&B/soul on streaming platforms. The records pull in a strong cast including David T. Walker, Monica Martin, Antwaun Stanley, and Harrison Whitford, among others. Stratton's fingerprints are all over the broader Vulfpeck universe too. He handles most of the band's production and management, helped develop the cult favourite Vulf Compressor plugin with Goodhertz, and conceived The Fearless Flyers as a separate instrumental project. His taste runs from funk and soul to klezmer, the latter showing up on a 2023 live album with the trio Yiddishe Pirat. His music has been picked up by Radio Milwaukee and landed on David Byrne Radio playlists.
