Warren Haynes is the kind of guitarist who leaves a mark on every project he touches. Best known as a cornerstone of the Allman Brothers Band and as the co founder of Gov't Mule, his playing sits right at the crossroads of blues, rock, and southern rock, built on a foundation of influences ranging from Hendrix and Clapton through to B.B. King and Muddy Waters. His weapon of choice is a Gibson Les Paul '58 Reissue, and Gibson has acknowledged his status by producing a limited edition Warren Haynes signature model. With Gov't Mule, which he formed in 1994 with drummer Matt Abts and bassist Allen Woody, Haynes helped build a reputation for ferocious live performances that quickly became the stuff of legend. The band has released a string of studio and live albums, and even after Woody's sudden death in 2000, kept pushing forward with a rotating cast of bass talent before settling into a more stable lineup. Outside Gov't Mule, Haynes has toured with Phil Lesh and Friends and the Dead, and even co wrote a song that spent twenty weeks at number one on the country charts when Garth Brooks recorded it. He also runs his own label, Evil Teen Records.
