Wavves

About

Wavves started as a bedroom recording project for San Diego's Nathan Williams in 2008, and it was a noisy, lo fi, surf tinged racket that quickly landed on Pitchfork's radar. The band got loosely lumped in with the "shitgaze" scene, and then Williams had a very public meltdown at Primavera Sound in 2009 that ended with bottles flying and the rest of a European tour cancelled. They bounced back with King of the Beach in 2010, a cleaner, poppier record that ended up high on year end lists at Spin and Pitchfork. Since then Wavves have kept the fuzz and the hooks coming. Afraid of Heights became their highest charting album on the Billboard 200 and got them on Letterman, and they made a song for the Grand Theft Auto V radio station Vinewood Boulevard Radio. In 2015 they released a full collaboration album with Cloud Nothings, No Life for Me, followed by the album V, led by singles like Way Too Much and My Head Hurts.
