About
Also known as: W.Y, William Robert Young
Will Young was the very first winner of the Idol franchise, taking the 2002 Pop Idol crown and then watching his double A side debut, "Anything Is Possible" / "Evergreen", become the fastest selling debut single in the UK. His first album went straight to number one, and Friday's Child followed, going platinum five times and throwing off three top five singles. Four of his songs have hit the top spot, and he has two Brit Awards to his name. He's never stuck to one lane, either. His turn in the 2013 London revival of Cabaret earned him a Laurence Olivier Award nomination, and he has written several books, including an autobiography. His chart run keeps going too: Lexicon, Crying on the Bathroom Floor and Light It Up all landed in the UK top five, and fresh videos like "Midnight" and "Falling Deep" appeared in 2024.
