Is Willemijn Verkaik coming to the Netherlands?
About
Willemijn Verkaik holds a record that no other musical theatre performer can claim: she has played Elphaba in Wicked more than 2,000 times across three languages, German, Dutch, and English, more than any other actress in the role's history. She originated the character in the first German production in Stuttgart in 2007, then brought her to the Netherlands, to Broadway, and finally to the West End in London. Beyond Wicked, her range is genuinely striking. She has voiced Elsa in the Dutch and German versions of Frozen, performed "Into the Unknown" at the 92nd Academy Awards alongside Idina Menzel and other international Elsa dubbers, and taken on roles from Miss Hannigan in Annie to Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca and Sloane in Bat Out of Hell. Most of her work has spanned the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, with stops in the US, Switzerland, and Austria along the way.
