About
Also known as: ウィナー, 위너
WINNER got their start the hard way: a 100 day reality survival show, WIN: Who Is Next, where two teams of YG Entertainment trainees fought it out for a debut slot. Team A took the win, and the group went on to open for Big Bang on a Japan Dome Tour before their official debut in 2014. That debut album, 2014 S/S, topped the Gaon Album Chart, and the single "Empty" landed at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart. They also reached number two on Japan's Oricon Albums Chart with the Japanese version, and won on M Countdown just five days after debuting. The road wasn't smooth. Nam Tae hyun stepped away in 2016 and left the band that November, and a planned run of releases was cancelled. WINNER returned as a quartet in 2017 with Fate Number For, and its lead single "Really Really" shot to number one on the Gaon Digital Chart and passed 100 million streams. The four members today are Kim Jin woo, Lee Seung hoon, Mino and Kang Seung yoon.
