Winona Oak, the stage name of Swedish singer songwriter Johanna Ewana Ekmark, built her early reputation through some well placed collaborations. Her feature on The Chainsmokers' album Sick Boy, lending her voice to the track "Hope", put her in front of a massive audience, and her hook up with What So Not on "Beautiful" took home Best Independent Dance/Electronica/Club single at the AIR Independent Music Awards. Her cover of the Haim song "Don't Save Me" also turned heads when it landed in late 2018. Signed to Neon Gold and Atlantic, she released a string of her own singles including "He Don't Love Me", "Break My Broken Heart", "Let Me Know", and "Lonely Hearts Club", each coming with a proper music video. Her debut studio album Island of the Sun arrived in June 2022, a full length that pulled together the dreamy, atmospheric pop sound she had been developing across those earlier releases.
