Woezie Woezie plays semi acoustic pop that feels like a warm blanket thrown over your shoulders. Their sound blends jazzy guitars, bluesy bass lines and lush harmonies, all wrapped around Dutch language lyrics that deal with the grind of adult life, robot love, bank robberies and the quiet dream of one day becoming a proper rock star. The band formed after the members met in secondary school, though it took a while before they found themselves writing songs about the tedium of grown up jobs. That tension between everyday drudgery and escapism sits right at the heart of what they do, and the result is a swinging brand of nederpop that is warm, a little wry and genuinely hard to shake.
