About
Wonder 45 are a six piece soul and funk band from London, built around a lineup of seasoned musicians who between them have clocked up over a century of stage time. They have played and toured alongside names like Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Sam Smith, Michael Kiwanuka, Lily Allen, Emeli Sandé and Rod Stewart, and that depth of experience comes through in a sound that feels simultaneously warm, tight and genuinely danceable. The band draws comparisons to Sharon Jones, Black Pumas, The Teskey Brothers and Alabama Shakes, which tells you something about the weight and energy they bring. Their debut album Wonderland earned them serious attention: the single Cry landed on the BBC Radio 2 playlist, while follow up Make It Happen was named a One To Watch by BBC 6 Music presenter Craig Charles. Their reach has spread well beyond the UK too, picking up airplay on influential Seattle station KEXP. The band is fronted by Jess Greenfield on lead vocals and keys, with Gavin Conder on vocals, Ross Ewart on guitar, Holley Gray on bass, Steve Pringle on keys and Chris Nickolls on drums.
