Few R&B groups from the early 90s racked up a run quite like Xscape. The Atlanta quartet, built around Kandi Burruss, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, LaTocha Scott, and Tamika Scott, landed their first major hit with "Just Kickin' It" in 1993, a track that went double platinum and hit number two on the Hot 100. Jermaine Dupri spotted them and signed the group to his So So Def label, and their debut Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha went platinum almost immediately. Their second album Off the Hook pushed them even further, with "Who Can I Run To" topping the R&B chart and earning platinum status. By the time they wrapped up with Traces of My Lipstick in 1998, they had racked up six top ten Hot 100 hits and over 12 million records sold in the US. After disbanding in 2000, the group reformed in 2017. They have since navigated lineup changes, including a period where three members performed as Xscap3, but Xscape has kept going as a trio following LaTocha Scott's departure in late 2022.
