yeule is the project of Nat Ćmiel, a Singaporean artist whose music drifts through glitch pop, ambient and avant garde pop with a sound that critics have struggled to pin down in the best possible way. The name comes from Paddra Nsu Yeul, a reincarnating seeress from Final Fantasy XIII 2, and that sense of fractured identity runs through the work. Debut album Serotonin II drew comparisons to Enya and Grimes, while Glitch Princess earned an 8.3 on Pitchfork and a spot in their Best New Music section. After signing to Ninja Tune, Softscars arrived in 2023 leaning into shoegaze and dream pop territory. Their fourth album, Evangelic Girl Is a Gun, pulls from an even wider palette including metal, trip hop and sludge metal, with production from Clams Casino among others.
