Maxime Nouchy, the French singer songwriter who goes by Yodelice, has a knack for blurring genre lines, pulling folk, rock and pop into a sound that he writes and sings entirely in English. Born in Créteil just outside Paris, he first made a name for himself under his real name Maxim Nucci before retreating to a place called Casa Yodelice in Spain, where he reinvented himself under the alter ego that stuck. That creative reboot paid off: he won the best new artist prize at the 2010 Victoires de la Musique, France's biggest music awards. By 2014 he had five albums to his name, from the self titled debut through Tree of Life, Cardioid, Square Eyes and Like a Million Dreams. Plenty of fans know him from a different angle though: his song Talk to Me featured in Guillaume Canet's hugely popular film Little White Lies alongside Marion Cotillard, introducing his music to a much wider audience than the festival circuit alone ever could.
