About
Yüksek Sadakat translates literally to High Fidelity in Turkish, and the Istanbul rock band has lived up to that name by blending pop rock with Turkish instruments, keyboard and guitar solos into something that sits comfortably between rock and Anatolian sounds. Formed originally under the name Filinta in 1997 by bassist Kutlu Özmakinacı, who was also editing a music magazine called Blue Jean at the time, the band found its footing and its current name by 2004, then broke through with their debut album in 2006. They represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the track Live It Up, becoming the first Turkish act to miss the final since the introduction of the semifinals back in 2004. Their catalog spans five studio albums, from the self titled debut through to Rengarenk in 2021, with Özmakinacı handling songwriting duties throughout.
