Yuniper

About

Yuniper blends kleinkunst and indie pop with warm soul influences, drawing comparisons to artists like Olivia Dean and Little Dragon. Frontwoman and songwriter Hedwig studied songwriting at ArtEZ Zwolle and at a conservatory in Aarhus, Denmark, and that grounding in craft shows clearly in the music: stories with real weight, intimate lyrics, and melodies that stick around long after the song ends. The themes Yuniper tackles are the ones people rarely talk about openly, grief, loneliness, and abuse, but the band balances that emotional honesty with moments of lightness, love, and connection. The rest of the band also came up through ArtEZ and the music scene in Zwolle, and their shared background gives the group a genuine chemistry. Live sets move between vulnerable and energetic, making for something that feels both personal and universal.
