Zach Bryan wrote and recorded much of his early music while serving eight years in the US Navy, uploading lo fi performances to YouTube from his phone before any label ever got involved. "Heading South", recorded outside his Navy barracks, went viral and set the whole thing in motion. His 2022 major label debut American Heartbreak was a 34 track triple album that cracked the Billboard 200 top five and introduced a lot of people to "Something in the Orange", a song that has since become one of his most iconic. His self titled 2023 album went straight to number one, powered by "I Remember Everything" featuring Kacey Musgraves, which topped the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Hot Rock and Alternative Songs charts at the same time and earned Bryan a Grammy. Fifth album The Great American Bar Scene followed in 2024, landing at number two on the Billboard 200.
