About
Also known as: Zella Day Kerr
Zella Day has a knack for wrapping raw emotion in immaculate pop production, and her career trajectory backs that up. Her cover of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" hit number one on Hype Machine and racked up over 50 million Spotify plays, which helped land her a deal with Hollywood Records. From there she released the EP and then the major label debut Kicker in 2015, a record that touched on toxic relationships and desert mysticism while charting at number 65 on the Billboard 200 and number 7 on the US Top Alternative. She has stayed restless since leaving Hollywood Records, dropping the EP Where Does the Devil Hide in 2020 and the full length Sunday in Heaven in 2022 via Concord Records. The single "Hypnotic" remains one of her most recognisable moments, an iTunes Single of the Week that earned RIAA certification. More recently she has been making music as part of the country group Chaparelle alongside her husband Jesse Woods.
