Few K pop artists have managed to earn genuine credibility in the underground hip hop scene while still topping mainstream charts, but ZICO pulls it off. Born Woo Ji ho in Seoul, he first made his mark as the leader and producer of boy band Block B, then steadily built a solo career that showed just how wide his range really is. His 2020 single "Any Song" sat at number one on the Circle Digital Chart for seven weeks, making it the longest running chart topper in the chart's history at the time. He's also part of the crew Fanxy Child, which he put together himself in 2016, and his 2019 debut full length album Thinking cemented his status as a serious solo act. On the production side, ZICO works across both K pop and Korean hip hop, and that crossover ability is basically his signature. In 2024, the collab single "Spot!" featuring Jennie gave him his first number one on the US Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart and a top ten spot on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, taking his reach to a whole new level.
