2011 HH Haarlem
Philharmonie Haarlem is a concert hall that combines restoration and new construction, housing both a historic building from 1872 and contemporary additions. Originally designed by architect A. van der Steur, the venue underwent extensive renovation beginning in 2001, directed by architect Frits van Dongen. The project aimed to serve Haarlem and North Holland as a center for musical excellence while preserving the original structure's character.
About Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir
Ton Koopman built this group in two steps: the orchestra came first in 1979, and the choir joined it in 1992. Their debut as a full ensemble was a big swing, premiering two Biber works at the Festival of Early Music in Utrecht, a Requiem for 15 voices and a Vespers for 32.
