Hotel Nassau

Nieuwstraat 23

Hotel Nassau is a luxury hotel occupying a former monastery complex on Nieuwstraat, one of the oldest streets in Breda, already documented on maps from 1350. The building has a layered past: three noble townhouses once stood here, associated with the influential Bruheze family and closely tied to nearby Breda Castle, while Breda's first city wall, completed in 1410, ran directly behind the site. After years of neglect, the monastery underwent extensive restoration and reopened on 2 May 2016 as a hotel, now part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. The ensemble of structures on the site is classified as a collection of national monuments, and the interiors carry visible traces of that long history, where austere religious architecture meets considered modern design. As a concert and event venue, Hotel Nassau draws on the character of its grand historic interiors.
