2011 HH Haarlem
Philharmonie Haarlem is a concert hall that combines restoration and new construction, housing both a historic building from 1872 and contemporary additions. Originally designed by architect A. van der Steur, the venue underwent extensive renovation beginning in 2001, directed by architect Frits van Dongen. The project aimed to serve Haarlem and North Holland as a center for musical excellence while preserving the original structure's character.
About Heijmans & Vrienten
Maarten Heijmans and Xander Vrienten found each other through their shared love of American southern music while working together on the musical Hadestown. That connection grew into a full project called Wachten op de dood, where they explore how close the worlds of folk, blues, jazz and Dutch kleinkunst actually are.
