Theater de Voorveghter in Hardenberg traces its origins to 1989, when it grew out of a small hall on Badhuisplein 3 that had already been hosting modest cultural activities for some years. That combination of theatrical and cinematic programming under one roof gives De Voorveghter a character that is broader than a typical regional performance venue. Volunteers are central to how the building operates, taking on the work of welcoming audiences, supporting artists and ensuring that productions run smoothly. The programming at De Voorveghter covers a wide range of genres and formats. Past concerts have included singer songwriters, rock acts and jazz influenced performances, with artists such as Anneke van Giersbergen and the Leif De Leeuw Band among those who have appeared on its stage. The venue also presents music theater and other crossover productions, fitting for a space that sits at the intersection of theater and live music.
