Beck unveils third single Disappearing Act from upcoming album Ride Lonesome

Beck is closing in on the release of his fifteenth studio album Ride Lonesome, out on September 18 and his first full record since 2019. Following the title single and 'In the Night', the American musician has now shared 'Disappearing Act' as the third preview. The track is defined by delicate acoustic guitars, strings, steel guitar and warm drums, complemented by layered vocal harmonies that give the whole thing an almost celestial quality. Lyrically, the song circles around letting go of the familiar and embracing uncertainty. Beck sings, among other things: "Try to unlearn the things you knew / There's a road out of here leads to nowhere."

Much like his acclaimed earlier albums Mutations, Sea Change and Morning Phase, Beck returns to a stripped back, singer songwriter style. For Ride Lonesome he once again teamed up with the musicians who appeared on those records: Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner. The album was produced by Beck himself, while his longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich, known for his work with Radiohead and Atoms for Peace, handled the mixing duties. Godrich and Beck had previously worked together on Sea Change and Mutations.

On the recording process, Beck said: "While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way." The title single was also released earlier in a duet version with country singer Sierra Ferrell. The album contains twelve tracks, including 'Run Away', 'Failed Words', 'Bleed', 'For Your Love', 'Slow Canyon' and 'Beyond the Light'.

To support Ride Lonesome, Beck has an extensive North American tour planned for the fall of 2026, kicking off in September in Vancouver and running through to the end of October. The run includes shows at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Massey Hall in Toronto and the Brooklyn Paramount in New York, with multiple nights already sold out. European or Dutch tour dates have not been announced yet, but given the scale of the campaign and Beck's longstanding popularity in the Netherlands, those may well follow later.
