Bloc Party shares new single Love Bombs as a preview of their seventh album

Bloc Party released their new single 'Love Bombs' on June 30, the second taste of their upcoming seventh studio album 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance'. The track is a synth driven serenade about the overwhelming feelings that can surface at the start of a new relationship, and follows the previously released single 'Coming On Strong'.

Frontman Kele Okereke explains the themes of the song in his own words: "At the start of a new relationship our feelings of connection can make us do dramatic things. 'Love Bombs' is the sound of a new love flowering, in beautiful romantic gestures. But under the surface is the ever present fear that maybe this new love, although shiny and great, maybe this new love might not last forever." The lyrics move between tender and quirky, featuring lines about catching someone's laughter in a jar and framing a napkin stained with a lover's blood.

'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance' arrives on September 11 via the new label cOnTAGIOUS LTD, in partnership with Virgin Music Group. The album contains fourteen tracks and was produced by the legendary Trevor Horn, known for his work with Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. The record is structured as a chronological portrait of a love story, from the first glances all the way to the final goodbye.

The album is also the most personal work Okereke has written to date. He wrote it after splitting from the father of his children following more than ten years together, after which he unexpectedly fell in love again. "Every lyric you're hearing on this record was something that actually happened to me. I had to tell the story, from start to finish," says Okereke. On his collaboration with Horn, he previously noted that the producer "seems to know all the tricks" after more than fifty years of studio experience.

Bloc Party gave audiences a first glimpse of the new material back in March during their performance at the BBC 6 Music Festival, where alongside 'Coming On Strong' and 'Love Bombs' they also played the not yet officially released track 'Pigwig'. Later this year the band is set to support Muse on a North American tour, and in the autumn they will head out on a co headline tour across the UK and Europe with Interpol. For Dutch fans looking to catch them live, that latter tour is the most obvious opportunity.
