A Great Big World is a New York duo made up of singer/songwriters Ian Axel and Chad King, and their story really took off when Christina Aguilera heard their track "Say Something" and asked to record it as a duet. That version hit number one on iTunes and peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, turning the pair into a genuine global act. Before that, "This Is the New Year" had already been building their profile, landing placements on ESPN, Good Morning America, and One Tree Hill, before the Glee cast performed it in 2013. Their debut album Is There Anybody Out There? came out in January 2014, followed by When the Morning Comes in late 2015, which they partly recorded at Sarm Studios in London. The duo has also been working for several years on a musical called Strokes of Genius, described as being about family. More recently they have kept releasing music, including the tracks "Boys In The Street" and "Glowing" in 2021.
