Aimer is a Japanese pop singer with one of the most distinctive voices in J pop, a husky, smoky tone that sets her apart immediately. Her stage name comes from the French verb meaning 'to love', and she writes lyrics under the alias aimerrhythm. Since debuting in 2011, she has put out seven studio albums, all landing in the top 20 of the Oricon Albums Chart. Her 2021 track 'Zankyosanka', the theme song for the Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc, became her first number one on the Japan Hot 100 and even broke into the Billboard Global 200 at number 37. She has a knack for landing high profile anime tie ins without feeling like a one trick act. 'Brave Shine' opened Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, 'I beg you' soundtracked the Fate/stay night Heaven's Feel film, and her album Daydream brought in serious collaborators including Yojiro Noda of Radwimps and TK of Ling Tosite Sigure. That album earned a Gold certification in Japan, which speaks for itself.
