About
Alex Sampson caught a lot of attention when he made it to the semifinals of America's Got Talent season 19 in summer 2024, winning fans over with original songs like his doo wop inspired ballad "Pretty Baby" and the smooth "Wallflower". AGT judge Howie Mandel summed up his vibe pretty well, calling him "a cross between Shawn Mendes and Chris Isaak", a nod to the retro pop flavour rooted in the sounds of the 1950s and 60s that made him stand out on the show. Signed to Warner Records and with a Sony ATV publishing deal to his name, Sampson has moved quickly. His debut EP Blurry Vision dropped in early 2024, and his sophomore EP Hopeless Romantic followed that September, released through Warner Music Group with "Pretty Baby" as its centrepiece single. People magazine put him on their Emerging Artists list in 2023, and his sound has been shifting toward a more contemporary pop direction since his AGT days.
