About
Alexander Broussard fronts The Billy Joel Experience, one of the more successful Billy Joel tribute acts around, known to a wider Dutch audience from the first season of the SBS 6 show The Tribute: Battle of the Bands, where the band finished in second place. His project Nocturne pairs him with German string quartet La Finesse for a concert series that puts Billy Joel's music in a classical setting. The idea comes from something genuinely interesting: Joel's own work already draws heavily on classical composition, most famously weaving a Beethoven piece into 'This Night'. Broussard set out to make that tension between pop and classical audible, and found that the two styles don't just coexist but actually push and pull against each other in ways that open the songs up.
