About
Allah Las have been quietly crafting their own corner of the Los Angeles sound since 2008, blending garage rock and surf with a heavy dose of 1960s psychedelia. The four piece, Miles Michaud, Matthew Correia, Spencer Dunham, and Pedrum Siadatian, first connected while working at Amoeba Records, and their love of vintage records comes through in a sound that critics have compared to The Zombies, The Kinks, and Arthur Lee's Love. Their 2012 self titled debut later landed on lists of the best psychedelic rock albums of the decade, tagged as a staple in surf rock and the 60s revival. Since then they have kept a steady pace, releasing Worship the Sun, Calico Review, and LAHS before dropping their fifth album Zuma 85 in 2023. That record drew praise for feeling creative and fresh, with one critic describing it as the start of a new era for the band. Their 2017 EP Covers #1, recorded in Topanga Canyon, showed a more contemplative side, covering songs by George Harrison and Television among others, and revealing the melancholy that runs beneath even their sunniest material.
