Before she was a rap star, Alyona Alyona was running a kindergarten in a small Ukrainian village. She left that life behind and, under her current stage name, dropped her first video in October 2018 for the track "Rybky". The follow up, "Holovy", hit a million YouTube views within a month, and from there things moved fast. Her debut album Pushka landed in April 2019, mixing four tracks fans already knew with nine new ones, including a duo with Alina Pash. The New York Times compared her to Azealia Banks, Vogue called her "Ukraine's most unlikely rap star", and Ukrainian media crowned her the sensation of Ukrainian rap. Signed to Def Jam Polska in 2020, she has kept building her profile well beyond her home country. She performed at the Sziget Festival in Budapest and won the Public Choice Award at the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards in 2021. Then in 2024 she teamed up with Jerry Heil for "Teresa & Maria", winning the Ukrainian Eurovision selection and finishing third in the Eurovision grand final with 453 points.
