André Manuel is a Dutch singer, performer and cabaret artist from Diepenheim who has built a career around sharp, often cryptic social commentary delivered in the Twents regional dialect. That combination of musical grit and biting wit has made him a genuine one off in the Dutch scene. His first band Fratsen started in 1985, and after they split he launched Krang, a project that earned an Edison Award nomination in 2000 and won the Zilveren Harp from Conamus in 1999 for promising Dutch artists. When Krang dissolved in 2004 he kept going as a solo act, later forming André Manuel & De Ketterse Fanfare and releasing albums including Op verzoek van de Goden and Tjuup!. He also put out the CD Dollekamp in 2011. Fratsen reunited in 2014 and released two albums, Caspar and Spookt, while Manuel himself picked up the prestigious Poelifinario Award in 2015 for his cabaret programme Het geval apart.
