Few artists have pulled off a reinvention quite like Annie Lennox. She first grabbed global attention as one half of Eurythmics alongside Dave Stewart, the duo whose synth driven pop defined so much of the 1980s. Hits like "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)", "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)" and "Here Comes the Rain Again" helped the pair sell over 80 million records worldwide, a tally that also counts her formidable solo output. Lennox launched that solo career in 1992 with Diva, a record that immediately announced she was no side act, delivering singles like "Why" and "Walking on Broken Glass". Her contralto voice earned her the VH1 label of "The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive" and a spot on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
