About
Lucas and Arthur Jussen are a piano duo, two brothers who play together at one instrument or across two. Their repertoire runs wide, from Bach and Brahms through Gershwin, Fauré and Ravel to contemporary writing, and they like to show off that range of pianistic colour in a single programme. Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in a version for two pianos is a good example of what they do, bright and full of sparkle. They have said that a recital in Het Concertgebouw with nothing on stage but the grand pianos feels intimidating, though in the best possible way. That bare setup suits a pair who play so closely in step.
