About

Bacilos built their name on a sound that blends Caribbean rhythms, South American folklore, pop melodies and rock energy, and their 2002 album Caraluna is still the defining moment of their catalog. It won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, and the song Mi Primer Millón, a witty self aware track about chasing success in the music industry, hit the Hot Latin Charts in early 2003. The Miami based duo of Colombian singer Jorge Villamizar and Brazilian bassist André Lopes consider themselves a Latin American band at heart, and their singles have topped charts across the region. After breaking up in 2007 they reunited a decade later, releasing new music and revisiting old favourites. Their 2021 album Abecedario included fresh recordings of Caraluna with Carlos Vives and Tabaco Y Chanel with Morat. Most recently, 2024 brought Pequeños Romances, a collection drawing from Villamizar's solo work and re recorded compositions.
