About
Five friends who met at university ended up becoming one of Brisbane's most beloved indie acts, which is a pretty good outcome for what started as a class assignment. Ball Park Music have built a serious catalogue over the years, with eight studio albums spanning everything from breezy indie pop to full on psychedelic rock territory. Their third album Puddinghead gave them their biggest early hit in 'She Only Loves Me When I'm There', a platinum certified single, while 'It's Nice to Be Alive' turned up in the film Blended and a season of Gossip Girl before also going platinum. The band's self titled sixth album was a real landmark moment, peaking at number two on the ARIA charts, winning Album of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards, and scoring a top five Hottest 100 finish with 'Cherub'. Good Mood, the album before that, landed three ARIA Award nominations on the back of 'Exactly How You Are', which polled at number 18 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2017. Their seventh record, Weirder and Weirder, picked up nominations for both Best Independent Album and Best Rock Album at the 2022 ARIA Awards.
