For nearly five decades, Barry Hay was the voice and face of Golden Earring, one of the most durable rock bands the Netherlands ever produced. His distinctive vocals powered iconic tracks like Radar Love, Twilight Zone and When the Lady Smiles, helping the band rack up close to 30 top ten singles on the Dutch charts and 25 studio albums. Beyond belting out anthems, Hay also designed cover art for several Golden Earring records, including the award winning Moontan sleeve. Hay has always kept busy outside the main band. His 2008 solo album The Big Band Theory teamed him up with the Metropole Orkest for a lush reimagining of rock classics, and he followed that with the Latin flavoured For You Baby in 2019, a collaboration with JB Meijers that included a duet with Danny Vera. A second album with Meijers, Fiesta de la Vida, arrived in 2022. He has also done voice work for animated films, hosted a radio show on Curaçao, and produced the debut album of Dutch singer Anouk.
