About
Bilderbuch started out as an indie rock band in Kremsmünster, Austria back in 2005, but by the time they settled in Vienna they had grown into something far harder to pin down. The four piece, led by vocalist and guitarist Maurice Ernst, gradually wove hip hop, electronic music and various pop textures into their rock foundation, making each album feel like a genuine left turn. Their 2015 record Schick Schock sharpened their reputation, and their song Spliff landed a notable spot in Gore Verbinski's 2016 film A Cure for Wellness. With seven albums to their name through 2022, from the early Nelken und Schillinge to Gelb ist das Feld, they have kept restless and prolific. In late 2021 they crossed the Atlantic for their first ever US tour, a milestone for a band that had long been a firm favourite in the German speaking world.
