About
Black Coffee is the South African DJ and producer who turned afro house into a global sound, and he has the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album to show for it. His debut came in 2005, a self titled record he built on very basic software, steering everything with a computer mouse, and mixing in R&B and jazz. He launched his own label, Soulistic Music, to release it, and later used it to sign and push younger names like Culoe De Song. Over the years he picked up eight South African Music Awards, four DJ Awards and two Metro FM Awards, and has now put out nine studio albums. Pieces of Me went platinum in South Africa within a month of its 2015 release. He has also attempted a 60 hour non stop set in Soweto, played Coachella and Tomorrowland, and worked with the likes of Drake, David Guetta and Usher.
