About
Mi Casa are a Johannesburg trio built around a genuinely unusual combination: Dr. Duda on production and piano, J'Something on vocals and guitar, and Mo T on trumpet. That mix of urban jazz and house music hit South Africa hard when their debut album dropped in 2011, with "These Streets" sitting at number one on radio and video charts for weeks and earning them a stack of South African Music Award nominations. Opening for Drake early in their career gave them a taste of the international stage, and their second album Su Casa went straight to the top of iTunes South Africa on release day. They kept building momentum through the mid 2010s, working with names like Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and toured globally after Home Sweet Home came out. After nearly splitting in 2017 they pushed through and released Familia that same year. More recently they signed to Universal Music and put out We Made It in 2020, with the single "Mamela" earning gold certification in South Africa.
