About
Breabach have been one of Scotland's most consistently compelling folk acts since forming in 2005, blending pipes, fiddle, bouzouki, double bass and vocals into something that feels both rooted in Gaelic tradition and genuinely alive. Their run of studio albums speaks for itself, from early outings like The Big Spree through to Frenzy of the Meeting and the 2021 animated film soundtrack Dùsgadh, with their most recent album Fàs landing in 2022. The band won Scottish Folk Band of the Year in 2012 and Live Act of the Year in 2013 at the Scots Trad Music Awards, and their live reputation has been earned on stages ranging from the Edinburgh Fringe and Celtic Connections to WOMAD and the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. The current lineup brings together musicians who have all studied seriously at conservatoire level, but the music never sounds like homework.
