About
Burnout Syndromes are a three piece rock band from Osaka who carved out a unique lane by chasing anime tie ins before that was a reliable career path. Guitarist and vocalist Kazuumi Kumagai, bassist Taiyu Ishikawa, and drummer Takuya Hirose have been at it since 2005, and their persistence paid off in a big way when they landed the opening theme for the massively popular sports anime Haikyu!!, a song called 'Phoenix'. They also contributed to the soundtracks of Dr. Stone and Gintama, making them a go to act for high profile anime projects. Musically, they are harder to pin down than you might expect from a j rock trio. Their studio albums wander into techno, ambient, hip hop, and ethnic sounds, and they have leaned further into electronic territory after picking up sequencer work. Released through Epic Records Japan, their records reflect a band that refuses to stay in one lane, even as the anime world keeps calling them back.
