About
Capella Brabant is a chamber choir that sings choral music with a strong feel for storytelling. Marc Versteeg serves as its artistic director and conductor, and the choir often works alongside actors, soloists and instrumentalists rather than standing alone on a stage. A good example is Alleen Samen, a contemporary Christmas tale about loneliness and closeness. An old, stubborn man refuses the home care nurse who turns up at his door, and she stays anyway. The choir sings the new carols in that piece, built to be catchy enough that you end up humming along. It was made with librettist Jibbe Willems and composer Lucas Wiegerink, the same pair behind the production De Klacht van de Vrede. For Alleen Samen they teamed up with a string quartet, a trumpeter, a baritone and an actress and singer.
