About
Also known as: CASS MCCOMBS BAND, Cass Mc Combs
Cass McCombs has been quietly building one of the more distinctive catalogs in American rock since his early 2000s debut, blending baroque pop textures with the kind of cryptic, literary songwriting that rewards repeated listens. His 2009 record Catacombs landed on Pitchfork's list of the 50 top albums of the year, and NME called his 2016 ANTI Records debut Mangy Love his richest ever recording. He has toured alongside John Cale and the Meat Puppets, and his songs have turned up in surf films, skate videos, and documentaries. Beyond music, McCombs published a poetry collection called Toy Fabels through Spurl Editions in 2020. His tenth studio album Heartmind came out in 2022, and in 2023 he teamed up with Mr Greg, a San Francisco schoolteacher, for an album of folk songs for children released on Smithsonian Folkways. He has kept the momentum going with Seed Cake on Leap Year in 2024 and Interior Live Oak in 2025.
