About
Cast came out of the Britpop boom with a ready made story: John Power had walked out of The La's, teamed up with ex Shack bassist Peter Wilkinson, and built something new from scratch. It worked fast. Their 1995 debut All Change, with hits like "Walkaway" and "Sandstorm", became the fastest selling debut in the history of Polydor, outselling the likes of Hendrix, The Who and The Jam. Noel Gallagher called seeing them live a "religious experience", and they picked up the tag "The Who of the '90s". The run of chart hits carried through Mother Nature Calls and Magic Hour, but a left turn on 2001's Beetroot went down badly and the band split two weeks after its release. They got back together in 2010 and have kept going since, with albums including Troubled Times, Kicking Up the Dust and 2024's Love Is the Call, now as a trio of Power, Liam "Skin" Tyson and Keith O'Neill. In 2025 they signed to the independent label Scruff of the Neck.
