About
Channa Malkin is a Dutch soprano working in vocal jazz and early music, with a particular focus on Sephardic repertoire. She performs Ladino songs that were passed down through generations long before recording technology existed, sitting alongside seventeenth century works by composers such as Obizzi and José Marín. Together with guitarist Izhar Elias, she brings programmes that move between longing and nostalgia on one side, and rhythm, passion and sheer pleasure on the other. It is music that travels across time and cultures, and in her hands it still feels immediate.
