Christina Stürmer shot to attention as the runner up on the Austrian talent show Starmania, and then immediately made that result look irrelevant: her debut single "Ich lebe" sat at number one in Austria for nine weeks. From there she built one of the most consistent careers in German speaking pop rock, racking up chart toppers in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland with albums like Schwarz Weiss, Lebe lauter, and Ich hör auf mein Herz. Number one singles like "Mama (Ana Ahabak)", "Nie genug", and "Um bei dir zu sein" kept her a fixture on pop radio across the region for well over a decade. Over a career spanning more than fifteen years, she has moved upward of two million records and collected eleven Amadeus Austrian Music Awards plus a pair of ECHO Awards along the way. She stepped into the TV world as a coach on the German series It Takes 2 and appeared on Sing meinen Song. More recently she teamed up with Wolfgang Ambros for an MTV Unplugged session in Vienna, showing she is still very much an active force in Austrian pop.
