Chuck Prophet made his name with the psychedelic desert rock outfit Green on Red in the 1980s, but it was his 2002 solo record No Other Love that cracked the US market wide open, thanks to the single "Summertime Thing" and a support slot on Lucinda Williams' summer tour. Since then he has built a serious reputation as both a songwriter and a collaborator: he co wrote every track on Alejandro Escovedo's Real Animal, produced Kelly Willis' Translated From Love, and even tackled Waylon Jennings' Dreaming My Dreams album note for note on his limited edition tribute record. His 2012 album Temple Beautiful, a love letter to San Francisco, scored an 82 on Metacritic and landed a title track proclaimed "Coolest Song in the World" by Little Steven's Underground Garage. His most recent work, Wake The Dead, a collaboration with Salinas cumbia urbana band Qiensave, hit number one on the AMA/CDX Top 50 Album radio charts.
